Tests of Doctor buffs after Patch 20170515

Post by Sandarie »

((I'm posting this for a player, until I figure out how to let players make polls :/ ))

With the changes to buffs I was very excited to test doctor buffs out, Seeing if it was a worthwhile thing to spend resources and time on for the future, and to help be a point for feedback Halyn.

These are my findings:
Current buff was 341 on Enhance action D
We can expect that our near capped buffs in the future buffs for Ish 500 on the 6 main stats.
Our Disease and Poison buffs are decreased the same way as the stats buffs, making them estimated 1/6th of their live strength, meaning they will have a very small actual effect, if any.

How the tests was done, Details and numbers. WARNING: Contains math

SPOILER!
SPOILER_SHOW
{
Skills, SEAs and food:
Master Doctor + Master Medic,
Wound treatment CA +14
Bivoli +8 (Thanks to Sandi for that =) )
Test where done in Broken bridge (Research center)
As you see here from the skills and buffs, I can still gain 11 more WT on SEA, and the bivoli can improve with resources coming available.

The buffs:
For this I will be referencing the Enhance Action D, and Disease Resistance B.
Action enhance is chosen as it is the one I can get the best result on, and it should be representative of all stat buffs. The one I could do was Power 768 and duration 10631. These both number can improve with resources available.
Disease resistance and poison resistance is very similar in how they work; hence I only write down one. The reason it is B and not C is… I do not have the resources. The one used for this test had Power 148 and Duration 1846

Results:
The applied buff of the Action Enhance was 341
The applied buff of Enhance Disease Resistance was 29

What can we make out of this?
Using the following formula, we can calculate what said action buff would done on Live with maxed food and SEA:
Heal Power of Pack x Environment x [(100 + Wound Treatment Skill + Bivoli + BE modded clothes) / 100] x Med City Bonus
768 * 1.1 * [(100 + 100 + 25 +25) / 100] = 2112
2112 is about 2/3 of what a near perfect non janta blood buff was. So by multiplying our results by 1.5 we can have a fair estimate of what our buffs on EiF will look at when the resources have had time to spawn and BE’s and Cheffs having their thingys
341 * 1,5 = 511,5
My personal View on this is the stat buffs are on the lower side, but would probably be worthwhile in some situation, especially those to the secondary stats. Perhaps it will be a thing to only buff secondary stats, I am not sure =)
The Resit buffs I think should be restored to what they were on live as they do not affect the daily play and our innate poison and disease resists has not been increased (That I know of?) and as such these buffs are only sought when it is something more special then daily play.

These are my findings and my views, I would love to hear others views on the topic?
Are they to high? To low? Has Halyn found the sweet spot? Please let me know!

Love <3

One thing about Doctor Buffs is they FEEL very low in part due to the fact that Entertainer Buffs have yet to be adjusted. I've heard at least three different individuals express this idea. I don't really have a solution for this as technically one shouldn't have any bearing on the other, but currently the psychology of it might make it hard for people to be objective.

Hi all, after finishing my grind to master doctor (and medic) I purchased a set of buffs from a vendor. When I try to use them it tells me "This item does not enhance attributes".... I have the required medicine use skill and have tried targetting myself as well as a patient, same response. Any answers?

Are the buffs still located in a bag, or backpack? You'll have to move them out of one if so, and stick them into your normal inventory.

I feel like the doctor profession has kinda been neutered. In the original version (I do realise there are many changes here) a doc buff meant you could go out for the duration and grind cash, assault boss mobs and instances etc but at present these buffs arent worth much. Combat maneuvers still drop action bar by quite a lot, still take significant damage from mobs. Just seems like the buffs dont do much, possibly because of the balance that was needed on mob stats to compensate for our heightened base stats.

To make a doctor truly worthwhile, the buffs need to be of a power that we can pop out and do things with a significant benefit of the buffpacks - creating a need for a doctor for the tougher areas, reasons to farm janta blood for that extra oomph and to give more options for the doc profession to make money.

On the contrary, Doctors are vital to... pretty much everything that involves any form of high-end group content, and a well-built Doctor can pretty much solo most mobs. You're not going to see a successful PvP event without a Doctor. You're not going to see instance groups forming without a Doctor. You probably won't see too many Vette runs, Krayt hunts, DJM hunts, etc without one, either. If your buffs feel weak, make sure you have a medical droid, a BE clothing piece with Wound/Injury treatment, and eat your Bivoli. Otherwise, you're missing out on a lot of the extra power the buffs can offer.

That said, buffs aren't going to make someone invincible. You'll still have to ensure that you have proper armor, PSGs, and foods to supplement your SAC as well as overall damage reduction while you're being shot at/stabbed. You'll also have to play to your abilities and to the mobs you're fighting, particularly the higher-end ones. Are you drinking some trusty Accaragm before you head into battle so you're not bleeding action? If you find that you're still low on action, check your weapon. Is it a high SAC cost? Do you have an action pup on there to further help?

Having played a lot of PvE and PvP group content, I can definitely feel the difference when I have top-of-the-line buffs/Janta buffs. I can also definitely feel the pain when something goes catastrophically wrong and a Doctor isn't present for one reason or another. Doctor is just as valuable as any other profession we have, and even may arguably be the most valuable on deck. Rather than being relegated to a buff bot in a hospital or cantina somewhere the Doctors here can not only buff, but can jump into battle themselves and have the ability to use Area Heals, Ranged Heals, and Heal States to keep themselves, and/or their party, alive.

Also... keep in mind that this thread is a bit of a necro, since its data and the original poll is from 2017 :D

Oh I hadnt spotted the date lol ooopsy. Yea im still trialling a lot of things doc related, still need a droid and the food stuffs. Harvesting resources to craft my own buffs inc janta bloods - I can see how theyre beneficial in combat scenarios however thats not a style of doc ive played before. My doc has always been a "stay at home/med centre" type doc, Will still be keeping him as is because it fits with his "rpg syle" ive created for this server (hes a full on change anything you need all things medicine lol doc, ID, BE, medic). Will continue to plug away and see what he can do.

Thanks for the info :D
