[GUIDE] In Character RP Comms using Alias Commands

Often when roleplaying, the group channel is taken into use as the group's In Character (IC) comm channel, making it great for maintaining IC contact with the group even while separated. It's ideal for doing space missions IC, as localized chat becomes pretty much useless here on the count of the distances involved.

A way to further enhance this and to notify you are talking IC in group is to put in a <Comm> before everything you say. This does however quickly becomes a lot of typing, so it helps to setup an alias to do most of the typing for you.

Group Alias:
/alias cc /group \#00ffff<\#ffff00Comm\#00ffff>\#ffffff

The color coding one definitely looks the part more. Similar to the Comm messages you sometimes get from NPCs. Now you can simply use /cc to send comm messages to the group channel.

You can change the colors by simply changing the hexadecimal color code (the letters/numbers after the #). In the above example, it would like like this in game: <Comm> As you can see in the examples below, different colors are used. The string of five f's at the very end resets the color to games default chat color.

This alias is trickier to apply to guild and specific channels but it can be done. The alias' below have had their color codes slightly altered so they match the default color for guild and channels respectively. So you can easily tell if the comm you are getting is via guild or a given chat channel. Note if you have altered your default color on guild and chat channels these may not appear correctly.

Guild Alias:
/alias cg /guild \#00ff00<\#ffff00Comm\#00ff00>\#ffffff

Channel Alias: (RP channel as example)
/alias cr /rp \#FF6600<\#ffff00Comm\#FF6600>\#ffffff

Channel Alias: (BS channel as example)
/alias crs /rs \#FF6600<\#ffff00Comm\#FF6600>\#ffffff

Channel Alias: (Seer channel as example)
/alias cs /seer \#FF6600<\#ffff00Comm\#FF6600>\#ffffff

You can then use /cg to send comm messages via guild chat or /cr to send it to RP chat. To use a different channel simply make up a different alias name than CR and replace /rp with whichever other channel you want it in. For a demonstration of an alternate channel look to the BS and Seer examples above.
While guild comms would mostly likely be considered secure communication, channel comms would almost certainly be some kind of public frequency. However you can of course figure it as you like.

Please note, the alias commands do not work for /tell
